House Histories of Sunderland Point
Temporary Page
This is a temporary page that allows browsers to access the spreadsheet we have created, listing all the houses, including the farms, and their occupants at the time of the censuses from 1841 until the partial census of 1939.
This information forms the backbone of the House History project, a story of each individual house.
The drafts are complete and now with residents. We hope to have a full draft of the new webpage ready for review by the end of June, with the final page published in September.
We have written an introductory article about the spreadsheet, available here.
The census dates are listed on the right, and the houses are organised tab-by-tab at the bottom. There is also a summary of just the names, arranged by census date.
Using the completed sheets, Mike Morris skillfully adjusted the entries to create a drop-down menu that allows users to select which house they want to view. The result displays who we believe inhabited the house at the time of each census since 1841.
We have uploaded the Excel sheet to Google OneDrive so it can be accessed by various platforms. It’s best looked at on a desktop or tablet. It works on a mobile phone, but it’s unhappy there.
