Alan Ball Award 2025

We are delighted to announce that the Sunderland Point Community Association has received the Alan Ball Award 2025 for outstanding local history publications in the category of E-Publications.

This is for the articles and galleries published on our village website, sunderlandpoint.net, during the last calendar year.

The awards are organised by CILIP, the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals, a large nationwide organisation based in London. Besides E-Publications, there are three other categories: (all printed) Hard Copy, Community Publication, and Small Publication or journal.

In their letter informing us of the award, they say:

We had a large number of entries this year, and the judges thought that your website is beautifully designed and produced, very accessible, with a wide range of brilliantly written and researched content and images. It does justice to an extraordinary part of the landscape of the British Isles, its historical associations and natural history, while wonderfully reflecting the local community and activities today. Many congratulations, you should all be very proud of your achievement.

We are thrilled to receive this award and wish to thank all the members of the community who have given support and encouragement to the website, and to the large team directly involved in the publication living in the village and elsewhere in the UK and abroad.
